SCO Summit 2022
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) taking place in Uzbekistan's Samarkand. "The world is overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic. Several disruptions occurred in the global supply chain because of the COVID and Ukraine crisis. We want to transform India into a manufacturing hub," said PM Modi at the SCO Summit in Uzbekistan's Samarkand.
Kejriwal promises farm loan waiver

Announcing yet another pre-poll "guarantee" in Gujarat, Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said his party, if voted to power in the state, will waive farm loans and also create a mechanism to buy produce from farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP).

In his address to farmers at Dwarka town of Devbhumi Dwarka district, the Delhi Chief Minister also promised to conduct a fresh survey of land as farmers were unhappy with the survey conducted recently by the BJP government. "Though MSP is announced every year, farm produce is not sold at that price. It is my guarantee that our government will buy at MSP if farmers do not find any other buyer who is willing to buy their produce at MSP. We will start with five farm produce such as wheat and paddy, and then add more," said Kejriwal in his address.

300 crores of unaccounted transactions found in a Gujarat based tile company raids

The income tax department has detected unaccounted transactions of more than ₹ 300 crore after it raided a Gujarat-based business group engaged in manufacturing of ceramic tiles early this month, the CBDT said Tuesday. The searches were launched on August 9 at 36 premises spread across Rajkot, Morbi, Ahmedabad, Raipur, Guwahati, Gurugram and Kolkata. Initial analysis of seized documents and digital data shows that the group has been engaged in "large-scale tax evasion" by adopting various methods, including, by way of unaccounted cash sales outside the books of account, under invoicing of sales and booking of bogus purchases, the CBDT said in a statement.

In a letter addressed to the President, he wrote: "I am writing to express my regret for having mistakenly used an incorrect word to describe the position you hold. I assure you that it was a slip of the tongue. I apologise and request you to accept the same." Chowdhury was heard referring to the President as “Rashtrapatni” in a video clip, the BJP ministers Smriti Irani in Lok Sabha and Nirmala Sitharaman in Rajya Sabha on Thursday protested and sought an apology from both Chowdhury and Congress president Sonia Gandhi. In the Rajya Sabha, Sitharaman said calling the President “Rashtrapatni” was a “sexist insult” because “Rasthrapati is a gender agnostic word”
Jaishankar to Chinese foreign minister: ‘Mutual interests, respect, sensitivity should be basis for bilateral ties’
Bilateral ties between India and China are best served by observing mutual respect, interests and sensitivity, external affairs minister S Jaishankar said on Thursday. Jaishankar, during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, conveyed the need for an early resolution of all outstanding issues. They were speaking on the sidelines of a conclave of foreign ministers of the G20 nations in Bali, Indonesia.
Jammu & Kashmir to host G20 meetings in 2023
Jammu & Kashmir will be hosting the 2023 meetings of G20, a grouping that brings together the world's major economies. The Union Territory government on June 23 released an order, setting up a five-member high level committee for overall coordination. In September last year, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal was appointed as India's Sherpa for the G20.
